LOS ANGELES—David Nobs has joined Ruder Finn as managing director, responsible for leading the growth and development of its Los Angeles office and helping to manage the agency’s consumer, sports and entertainment marketing practice.
Nobs was most recently general manager with Rogers & Cowan and Weber Shandwick in Los Angeles. In his five years there, he expanded the agency’s corporate communications and consumer, sports and entertainment marketing business and managed the merger of Shandwick International, the Weber Group and BSMG in Los Angeles to form Weber Shandwick. Clients included Bank of America, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft in the corporate and tech areas; consumer marketers such as Coca-Cola, Kohl’s and Vans; and NASCAR, the LPGA and AVP Pro Beach Volleyball in the sports arena.
“This is one of the most significant appointments we’ve ever made in Southern California,” says Richard Funess, president, Ruder Finn/Americas. “David has a terrific reputation in our industry, proven leadership skills in client service, business development, and is widely known for his ability to manage high-profile, award-winning programs in virtually all areas of public relations.”
Nobs takes over from Howard Solomon who was serving as managing director on an interim basis. Solomon continues to serve as executive vice president, regional operations and head of Ruder Finn’s Chicago office.
Prior to managing the Los Angeles operations of Rogers & Cowan and Weber Shandwick, Nobs was executive vice president of Cone Communications, where he ran the marketing public relations practice; senior vice president/managing director of Earle Palmer Brown Public Relations, heading up its operation in New York; and vice president/managing director of Cohn & Wolfe’s worldwide consumer sports practice.
