SAN FRANCISCO — Veteran Silicon Valley PR pro Ryan Donovan has parted ways with healthcare startup Practice Fusion and is launching a new communications consultancy.

Donovan joined electronic health records startup Practice Fusion as VP of corporate communications in December 2013 after nearly three years with Visa as SVP of communications. He departed the payment company amid a series of changes as it scaled back its work with agency partners.

At Practice Fusion, Donovan reported directly to CEO/founder Ryan Howard. Donovan told the Holmes Report the position “wasn’t a fit” and he has started a new company Donovan Communications. It is understood the new consultancy will focus on technology.

Donovan’s 20-year career in Silicon Valley has included tenures at SanDisk and Hewlett-Packard.
