Schaffer Names to Lead Communications at HBO

Quentin Schaffer has been promoted to executive vice-president, corporate communications, at HBO, responsible for overseeing all of the company's public relations activities.

NEW YORK—Quentin Schaffer has been promoted to executive vice-president, corporate communications, at HBO, responsible for overseeing all of the company's public relations activities, directing the media relations, corporate affairs, talent relations and special events areas.

Schaffer has overseen public relations campaigns for HBO's original programming, from Sex and the City, Deadwood, Band of Brothers and Angels in America to, more recently, The Sopranos, The Wire, Big Love, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Rome, and Entourage as well as numerous documentaries, original movies, comedy and music specials and sports programs.

In his new role, his responsibilities entail the direction of all consumer press outreach— print, electronic and the internet—oversight of the company's successful Emmy and Golden Globe Award campaigns, Hollywood trade ads, special screening events, trade and business press and policy positioning for programming projects.
