Schick Takes Over Lead Communications Role at Daimler

Hartmut Schick, since January 2002 head of global communications for Daimler, is to take over a new executive position—to be announced shortly—within the operative business of the group.

STUTTGART—Hartmut Schick, since January 2002 head of global communications for Daimler, is to take over a new executive position—to be announced shortly—within the operative business of the group. Schick's successor as head of global communications will be Jörg Howe, currently director of corporate communications at German retailer Arcandor AG (formerly KarstadtQuelle) in Essen.

 

Howe will report to the chairman of the board of management of Daimler, Dieter Zetsche, and will have global responsibility for the external and internal communications of the company.

 

Howe has been director of corporate communications of KarstadtQuelle/Arcandor since 2004. Before that he had been active as chief editor of the television station Sat.1 since 1996.

 

Prior to the career change to communications Schick, who is a graduate engineer, was chief of staff for the chairman of the board of management. From 1997 to 1999, he built up the Mercedes-Benz plant in Juiz de Fora,
