WASHINGTON, D.C.—Hill & Knowlton has named Kelli Parsons and Michael Robinson as practice director and deputy practice director, respectively, of the company’s Washington, D.C. corporate practice.
Parsons recently transferred from Hill & Knowlton’s Houston office where she managed the local technology practice. Robinson was most recently as spokesman for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he provided public relations counsel to chairman Harvey Pitt.
“Kelli’s deep experience with major corporations and Michael’s tenure with the SEC provides them with unique perspectives that will be very helpful to clients whom we are counseling with regard to corporate governance and accountability,” said Ron Hartwig, U.S. director of the firm’s corporate practice.
Prior to joining H&K in 1998, Parsons was an award-winning television news reporter and producer for various network affiliates in Houston, Texas, Nashville, Tenn. and Louisville, Ky.
While at the SEC, Robinson developed and implemented communications strategies to promote the Commission’s twin goals of investor protection and ensuring marketplace integrity. He also helped guide the Commission through the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, and the resulting closure of the securities markets.
Before joining the SEC, Robinson headed corporate communications for Friedman Billings Ramsey Group, an integrated investment bank and venture capital firm and was a senior corporate spokesman for Mobil Corporation. Robinson has also held senior communications positions with the Nasdaq Stock Market, U.S. Department of Justice and The White House.
