BANGALORE—Senjam Raj Sekhar has joined Indian e-commerce major Flipkart as VP of corporate communications, the Holmes Report has learned.

Sekhar joins the company after departing his previous role as Vedanta's global communications head in late 2013. He spent two years at Vedanta, which he joined from Bharti Enterprises in 2011.

It is understood that, in his new role at Flipkart, he reports to the company's co-founder Sachin Bansal.

Sekhar's arrival at Flipkart comes amid the company's well-publicised u-turn on net neutrality. Earlier this week, Flipkart decided not to join Airtel Zero, instead making an announcement backing net neutrality in the country.

Flipkart's corporate communications was previously led by senior director Camille Gonsalves.

Sekhar declined to provide details of his new role, but confirmed his arrival at the company.

Prior to joining Bharti, Sekhar spent several years agency-side, including two years as Genesis Burson-Marsteller managing partner.
