NEW YORK—Consumer and healthcare specialist DeVries Public Relations has been selected to provide consumer public relations support for beauty and fragrance retailer Sephora. Kekst & Company will continue to handle corporate and financial communications for the company. New York advertising and PR boutique Tractenberg & Co. had held the account.

DeVries senior vice president and managing director Stephanie Smirnov and vice president Jessica O’Callaghan will head the Sephora account, which was won in a pitch that began with 12 agencies and culminated in a shoot-out between five finalists. The assignment will include media relations and store openings as well as branding and positioning.

Sephora, founded in France in 1969 and acquired by Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton in 1997, operates 111 retail stores in the U.S. and Canada.
