LOS ANGELES—Cerrell Associates, one of the longest-established public affairs and political consulting firms in southern California, has expanded its ownership team to include seven equal shareholders. The new team will serve as the company’s board of directors and will help guide the growth and development of the firm going forward, according to chairman and founder Joe Cerrell.

The team includes Cerrell himself, who will continue his day-to-day leadership and serve as both chairman and chief executive officer; Hal Dash, president, who has been with the company for 29 years; Steve Bullock, chief financial officer, who has been with the company for 19 years; and executive vice presidents Matthew Klink (12 years), Lisa Gritzner, (three years), Kristen Lonner (two years), and Mark Wittenberg (four years).

In early 2006, Joe and co-founder Lee Cerrell reached the conclusion that the right management team was in place to expand the company’s ownership structure. The Cerrells, who have owned 100 percent of the company since its founding four decades ago, had seen the 40-person firm grow in its five practice areas:  local government; land use and planning; campaigns and issues management; environmental and energy public affairs; and, public relations.
