LONDON--Sharp Electronics has followed up its hire of two new US firms by naming Kaizo to lead PR support across Europe.

Kaizo will lead a team of firms from its Worldcom independent PR network, overseeing consumer and B2B comms for the Japanese electronics player. The assignment will attempt to help Sharp articulate a new message following its shift from a collection of local market businesses to a more centralised model.

In addition to European strategy and content development, the programme includes local market campaigns in UK, Germany, France, Spain, Benelux and Nordics, with Worldcom firms HBI (Germany), Yucatan (France), LF Channel (Spain), Wisse (Netherlands) and Oxenstierna & Partners (Stockholm).

Earlier this month, the Holmes Report revealed that Sharp had split its US PR business between Kwittken & Co and Peppercom.

Meanwhile, Edelman's remit in charge of PR in Eastern Europe remains unaffected.

“At Sharp, we have always prided ourselves on amazing technology and world leading innovation," said  Ingrid Helderman, who was recently promoted to corporate communications manager at Sharp Electronics Europe.

"We’re excited to be taking a proactive new European PR approach, one which matches a new dynamic vision for one European business. Our aim is to communicate with one consistent voice, whilst maintaining a personal touch at a local level.”

The account will be led by Kaizo MD Rhodri Harries and director Steph MacLeod.
