Siemens Names Varney VP of Communications

Siemens Energy & Automation has named Thomas Varney as its first-ever vice president of Corporate Communications. Varney will report to CEO Aubert Martin and have responsibility for the company’s external and internal communications.

ATLANTA—Siemens Energy & Automation has named Thomas Varney as its first-ever vice president of Corporate Communications. Varney will report to CEO Aubert Martin and have responsibility for the company’s external and internal communications, including marketing communications, public relations and employee communications. 

Alpharetta-based Siemens Energy & Automation—a diverse electrical/electronics company involved in marketing and developing  products, systems and services for manufacturers, service providers and commercial and residential construction—has more than 9,400 employees in more than 120 locations nationwide.

Varney is rejoining Siemens after spending the last three years as vice president, communications, at Medco Health, a former subsidiary of Merck & Co. Before joining Merck, Varney worked for nearly 15 years with Siemens in New York, where he served as managing director of public relations for Siemens in the United States and as vice president of communications for the Siemens Foundation.
