SINGAPORE--Singapore has called in new agency support to help position the country as a influential voice on energy issues.
The country’s Energy Market Authority has appointed independent firm Watatawa to handle a two-year contract worth around S$1m overall, focused on developing its Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) event. In addition the agency has been charged with building awareness of Singapore’s energy developments and thought leadership.
Watatawa prevailed following a pitch that included incumbent Burson-Marsteller, Weber Shandwick, Edelman and Ruder Finn. The development was confirmed by Watatawa CEO Bill Rylance.
Priority international markets for the brief include the US, Europe, Middle East, Japan, Korea, China, India, Australia and Southeast Asia. In addition to messaging, positioning and branding, Watatawa will also develop digital and social media strategies.
Now in its fifth year, SIEW aims to help position Singapore as a leading global energy hub, and includes numerous industry leaders and influencers. The forum examines such issues as economic development, climate change, efficient energy technologies and urban progress.
