CARPINTERIA, CA-SinusPharma, a company dedicated to developing non-invasive sinonasal treatments, has hired Kirsten Ayars as its new director of corporate communications. Ayars will be responsible for finetunring the company's strategic communications and marketing programs, working closely with Alixe Mattingly, recently named corporate communications advisor on the firm's advisory board.

Ayars has held positions at TynanGroup Public Affairs and Davies Communications, and has managed public education and outreach campaigns for clients in the transportation, oil and gas, public works, and land use development sectors.

Mattingly is a 20-year veteran of the healthcare and public affairs arenas and most recently spent four years as vice president of communications at PhRMA, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. Previously, she was head of corporate communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield headquarters during a time when managed care was a hot-button issue. According to SinsuPharma CEO John Wilczak, "With our rapid growth and emerging presence in the pharmaceutical industry, we need a strong communications team. I am confident that Kirsten Ayars and Alixe Mattingly will create and oversee implementation of public relations and corporate communications strategies that will further our active dialogue with investors, patients, physicians, and the general public."
