WASHINGTON, D.C., January 4—Edelman Public Relations Worldwide has been selected as agency of record for Sodexho, which provides food services, housekeeping and plant operations support to corporate and healthcare clients. The assignment will focus on issues management and crisis preparedness.

“There were many strong contenders among the agencies we looked at, but in the end we were very impressed with Edelman’s team experience in issues management and in the food industry,” says Leslie Aun, Sodexho’s vice president of public relations. “The Edelman team has the strategic skills, the creativity and the global reach we feel will be key to achieving our communications objectives.”

The account will be led by Dan Puzo, senior vice president in Edelman’s Washington office, where he specializes in food, nutrition and health issues. Edelman started work for Sodexho by introducing a new program targeting college students. Called the Freshman 15—a reference to the number of pounds the average student gains in his or her first year—the program provides dietary tips.
