NEW YORK—Rowland Communications Worldwide has named Hayley Soffer as senior vice president and healthcare practice director. In her new role, Soffer will work closely with Rowland’s chief executive officer, Ann Moravick, to further develop the firm’s healthcare capabilities and will also lead the firm’s current healthcare business., Philips Medical Systems.
Soffer joins Rowland from sister company Manning Selvage & Lee, where she was a senior vice president leading the Roche Virology business. For the past seven years, Soffer has managed Saquinavir, an HIV protease inhibitor; Fuzeon, the first fusion inhibitor approved for the treatment of HIV; Valcyte, a treatment for an AIDS-related opportunistic infection; and Pegasys, the market leader in hepatitis C treatment.
“Hayley’s background is the ideal fit for our growing healthcare business,” said Moravick. “She offers our team and our clients a rich perspective on the complexity of communicating about critical health issues to diverse audiences.”
Rowland’s healthcare practice has doubled in size during the past year. The agency supports multiple brands for clients including Berlex, Dermik Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson/Merck, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Roche and sanofi-aventis.
Before joining MS&L, Soffer was with Porter Novelli’s healthcare division in New York.
