SAN FRANCISCO—Howard Solomon, executive vice president for regional operations and managing director at Ruder Finn/Chicago, has been named the new managing director for the agency’s San Francisco office. Solomon replaces Jessica Switzer, whose agency, Switzer Communications, was acquired by Ruder Finn three years ago. Switzer will remain at the agency in the role of executive VP, client service.

Solomon, who has managed both the Chicago and Los Angeles offices of Ruder Finn over the past year, will continue to lead regional operations and will report into Richard Funess, president of Ruder Finn/Americas. He will also continue to play an active role in Chicago until a new managing director is named for that office.

“Howard has been with the agency for over 10 years and has risen to the occasion every time we’ve asked him,” said Funess. “He has shown he can deal with any and all facets of the business, whether they’re client needs, financial management or building employee morale.”

Switzer, who has led the San Francisco office since Ruder Finn acquired her firm, will continue to play a key role in both consumer and consumer tech practice areas but will relinquish the role of managing director in order to fully concentrate on client service, team building and securing new business in the marketing arena.
