NEW YORK—Southard Communications has hired Evan Ard to lead its corporate communications practice and has added two new clients to its corporate communications roster, expanding its reach into the energy and environment and sports marketing sectors.

A former senior manager at Southard from 1998 to 2002, Ard returns to the firm as senior vice president to manage account service for all business-to-business, corporate marketing communications, and corporate reputation clients. He will also lead the company’s corporate brand management and marketing practice, as well as its crisis communications preparedness programs.

Ard joins from White Plains, NY-based Evolution Markets, a leader in energy and environmental brokerage, where he managed all aspects of the firm’s global brand management, including media relations, marketing communications channels, customer relationship management, advertising, and Internet properties.

Ard brings Evolution Markets to Southard as a client for its corporate communications group. Southard will provide marketing communications services to support the company’s global expansion in energy and environmental commodity trading markets.

In addition, Southard Communications has been named the public relations agency of record for Varsity Spirit, a national leader of cheerleading apparel, camps, and competitions. The firm will provide corporate reputation and corporate communications services.
