ST. LOUIS—Independent public relations firm The Standing Partnership has formed a strategic alliance with Grassroots Enterprise, the public affairs and technology firm headed by former Clinton spokesman Mike McCurry.
“This alliance will allow The Standing Partnership and Grassroots Enterprise to offer current and future clients the highest level of public relations and public affairs,” says Standing founder and managing principal Cathy Dunkin. “Additionally, Grassroots Enterprise’s presence in Washington and San Francisco perfectly complement our Midwestern location, giving our clients access to ‘inside the Beltway’ public affairs expertise and the latest Silicon Valley technology.”
Grassroots Enterprise helps its corporate and association clients identify, inform and mobilize their most powerful resources—members, supporters, customers, business partners, employees and other stakeholders—to influence legislative and regulatory debates, shape public opinion and elevate their commitment levels.
Its flagship product is Grassroots Multiplier, which uses the Internet to centralize and simplify the recruitment, management and mobilization of those resources.
Says McCurry, “Missouri’s economic and civic health in large part determines the health of the entire midwestern economy. By melding our integrated public affairs and campaign services with The Standing Partnership’s broad regional knowledge and network of influencers, we can help shape public campaigns that will improve the region’s, and in turn the nation’s, prosperity and health.”
The firms are already in talks to handle two public affairs campaigns, principals say.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Separately, Grassroots Enterprise has formed a strategic alliance with Meetup.com, the leader in the fast-growing world of Internet generated political gatherings, issue summits and cultural get-togethers, which made headlines for its role in mobilizing the presidential campaign of Vermont Governor Howard Dean.
“Our ground-breaking partnership means voters, businesses and consumers will have an integrated grassroots platform available to them in the marketplace,” says Grassroots chief executive Mike McCurry. “Meetup.com’s proven ability to convert online passion into enthusiastic face-to-face meetings in hometowns nationwide is unsurpassed. Grassroots Enterprise’s established power in organizing and translating Internet-based grassroots concern into persuasive voting blocks, powerful consumer advocates and influential opinion shapers is matchless. The combination will be formidable.”
