Steffan Williams Promoted To CEO Of Porta

LONDON — PR holding group Porta Communications has reshuffled its senior management, promoting Steffan Williams to the role of CEO.

Williams, who had served as group MD since joining the company at the start of this year, replaces founder David Wright, who becomes executive chairman. Wright, in turn, succeeds Bob Morton, who is stepping down due to health issues.

In addition, John Foley, currently a non-executive director, has been appointed as senior independent director.

"I am pleased to announce that Steffan has taken on the CEO role to lead the next chapter of Porta’s development, supported by the board and myself as chairman," said Wright in a statement. "The strength of the platform that we have built is allowing us to add to the quality of our senior team across all geographies. This accumulation of talent is allowing us to be considered for and to win ever more significant client assignments. Steffan’s initial focus will be to ensure that this positive momentum continues to gather pace."

Porta, which owns a range of communications firms, including Newgate, Publicasity, Redleaf and Thirteen, hired Williams from Finsbury to help drive growth. The company reported revenue of £17.8m for 1H of 2016, and has also hired former MHP CEO Gavin Devine as chief operating officer.
