SunTrust Banks Names Smith to Lead Communications

SunTrust Banks, one of the largest banks in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states has named Craig D. Smith as executive vice president and corporate communications executive.

ATLANTA—SunTrust Banks, one of the largest banks in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states has named Craig D. Smith as executive vice president and corporate communications executive.

 

He will lead the company's external and internal communications activities, leading an expanded and centralized Corporate Communications function to provide companywide and individual line of business communications, reporting to SunTrust president William Rogers.

 

Barry Koling, who served as head of corporate communications at SunTrust and a predecessor institution, will retire from the company in September after more than 20 years of service.

Smith most recently served as a senior vice president and corporate communications executive at Bank of America. He previously was corporate communications director for Colgate-Palmolive and held senior leadership posts with Inter-Continental Hotels and its predecessor companies. Smith began his communications career with McDonnell Douglas Corporation.
