LOS ANGELES—Social networking company MySpace has named Rosabel Tao to the role of senior vice president of corporate communications. Tao will oversee all global external and internal communications and will be responsible for leading public relations strategy, messaging and priorities across MySpace’s international territories and building communications programs to support key business objectives beginning with the company’s upcoming redesign.

Most recently, Tao was the principal of a private communications consulting firm focusing on companies at the intersection of media and technology, with a client list that included Current Media, PopSugar Media, Spot Runner and REVShare.

Prior to founding her own consulting firm, Tao held a number of executive roles on both the client and agency sides. She served as the vice president of corporate communications at Spot Runner for four years and as a senior vice president of corporate communications for the consumer division at Bank of America. Earlier in her career, Tao worked for public relations agencies including Golin Harris as a senior vice president, Weber Shandwick as a vice president and Fleishman-Hillard as an account supervisor.
