HERNDON, VA—Tata Communications is understood to be seeking a PR firm to help boost its profile in the US.

The Holmes Report understands that the Indian telecommunications company has shortlisted agencies after an initial review phase that featured numerous contenders.

The company, which is the flagship telecoms arm of the $100bn Tata group, works with Hill + Knowlton Strategies in Europe and Asia. In India, the business is serviced by Edelman, which also handles the overall Tata group PR account.

The US is now Tata Communications' second-largest market, after the company launched there in 2004. US revenue now clocks in at more than $350m, out of global revenues of more than $3bn

Growth has been driven by Tata Communications' business with large enterprises and carriers. The company is the world's largest wholesale voice carrier and also has substantial investments in submarine cables and global data services.

Tata Communications has expanded considerably over the past decade, via numerous data carrier acquisitions, including US company Tyco and Canada's Teleglobe.

Tata Communications did not respond to numerous requests for comment as this story went live.
