WASHINGTON, D.C., August 1—Telecommunications veteran Gerald Kovach has joined NeuStar, a provider of critical database and clearinghouse services for the communications industry, as senior vice president of external affairs.Kovach will direct corporate communications, government relations, regulatory, public policy and public relations activities for the company.
 
Previously, Kovach served as a senior vice president at WorldCom for 15 years, where he senior officer in charge of communications and policy functions. Prior to WorldCom, Kovach spent 10 years in the United States Senate, most recently as the chief counsel and chief of staff to the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
 
According to NeuStar chairman and CEO Jeffrey Ganek, “Jerry brings extensive experience formulating telecommunications initiatives, negotiating and managing major legislation to his position at NeuStar. His strengths in developing strong coalitions with external organizations and setting strategic direction for internal and external programs will be a significant asset to NeuStar.”
