NEW YORK—Hill & Knowlton has named Chris Gidez as a senior vice president in the office’s corporate and financial practice. Gidez brings depth of understanding in the oil and gas industries, after 14 years with
ChevronTexaco.

Gidez joined Texaco in 1990 and for the first four years handled public affairs and communications for the company’s alternate energy and power generation businesses. In 1996, he was appointed to manage the company’s corporate media relations team, at a time when Texaco faced a critical reputation challenge related to a high-profile discrimination lawsuit. In 1999, he was named general manager of corporate communications, overseeing all external and internal communications, directing communications for the merger of Chevron and Texaco, and handling all the company’s litigation, crisis and reputation management.

Prior to Texaco, Gidez was a vice president in Edelman Worldwide’s public affairs practice in
Washington, D.C., and spent time with Manning, Selvage and Lee, also in Washington.
