NEW YORK—Health and wellness public relations firm Tonic Life Communications has been selected to provide public relations support to Rareshare, which provides a platform for patients to form online communities around specific diseases, create discussion boards and share information such as links to medical papers, clinical trials, and other resources.

Tonic will be working with RareShare to raise awareness of its social networking service among patients, medical professionals and content providers. The account will be led out of Tonic’s New York offices with the support of the global Tonic team.

“Providing the framework for active support networks which serve rare diseases has not been possible in the past due to small and geographically dispersed patient populations,” says David Isserman, founder of RareShare. “Online social networks facilitate the interaction of geographically disperse people, and RareShare translates that potential into a quality of life benefit for those who bear the burden of rare diseases.  We are very excited to work with Tonic as we seek to bring the success of our communities to a wider, global audience.”
