LONDON--Twitter has hired Rachel Bremer to head its European communications function, as the microblogging site prepares to launch in the region.

Bremer joins Twitter from the London office of US PR firm SparkPR, which she has headed for the past four years. Her arrival at Twitter comes after the company transferred Tony Wang from San Francisco to London to lead its European expansion.

Bremer will bring considerable relevant experience to the Twitter role, having worked on such clients as Good Technology, Index Ventures, Moo.com, Seedcamp, TweetDeck and Skype.

Bremer will report to Twitter global communications chief Sean Garrett, who has been charged with building the company’s public relations team since joining last year. She departs SparkPR after almost a decade with the firm.

Speculation has surrounded the anticipated location of Twitter’s European HQ, although it seems clear that - at the very least - the company will open an office in London.
