NEW YORK, October 10—With an already soft economy compounded by fear of flying, companies in the travel arena are facing major business and marketing challenges, and a new unit at M Booth & Associates—launched just a week before the terrorist attacks of September 11—is there to help. The firm has announced a new travel and lifestyle practice, head by former Hill & Knowlton executives Joan Bloom and Joan Brower.

Bloom and Brower, who were co-directors of the travel and tourism group at H&K, join M Booth as senior vice presidents and will lead the new practice.

“Now, more than ever, we are committed to assisting the travel industry in regaining its strength and emerging from the current situation with renewed confidence,” says Brower. “A number of our former travel and lifestyle clients have already joined us at M Booth & Associates, and together we are moving forward with programs to jump-start their business activity.”

Prior to H&K, Bloom held positions at AC&R Public Relations, a subsidiary of Ted Bates/Saatchi, and at Marketing Ahead, a hotel marketing firm representing hotels in Spain and Portugal. Brower was previously a senior vice president at GCI Group in New York, supervising the agency's travel and tourism accounts, and president of AC&R Public Relations.

“We’re delighted that these two outstanding professionals are expanding the agency’s capability in a significant new area,” says agency president Margi Booth. “At this particularly important time, we believe that the combination of our strong brand asset marketing and the Bloom/Brower team's travel experience will be a powerful force in growing the practice.”
