MIAMI—Unilever marketing maven Marc Mathieu will be among the headline speakers at the 2015 Global Public Relations Summit, which will take place once again at the St Regis Bal Harbour hotel in Miami in October of this year.

Unilever is a company on the cutting edge of public relations, both for its brands—initiatives like the Dove “Real Beauty” campaign, the “Dirt is Good” effort across several laundry brands, and Lifebuoy’s support for Global Handwashing Day all show the power of marketing initiatives that have PR at their core—and more recently at a corporate level, with the Project Sunlight sustainability initiative that Mathieu has championed.

From CEO Paul Polman on down, Unilever has committed to engaging deeply with the communities in which it operates, which makes it a perfect fit for an event that will focus on “Culture and Character: The Keys to Authentic Brand-Building.”

Says Mathieu: “At Unilever, we believe that a purpose-driven company with a sharp focus on sustainable business practices can be profitable while having positive impacts on the planet and the people we serve. However, to succeed, we can’t do it alone and frequently collaborate with our peers in the private sector, with government, with NGOs—as well as the millions of people who buy our products every day.

“The Global Public Relations Summit offers a forum to discuss our vision for the future of business and the positive impact we can have in society.”

Mathieu, who is global SVP of marketing at Unilever, will share his views on the roles both corporate and individual brands can play in propelling a company’s mission forward.

A sustainability and branding specialist, Mathieu joined Unilever in 2011 after helping turn around Coca-Cola via the 'Coke Side of Life' marketing platform.

He will be joined by senior corporate communications executives from companies such as Chevron, Ford, General Motors, HSBC, Levi Strauss, Starbucks, and Walmart—all of whom will be announced over the next few weeks.

The fourth Global Public Relations Summit will take place in Miami on October 27 and 28. It will be preceded by our fourth Independent Public Relations Firm Forum on October 26, and will culminate in the Global SABRE Awards dinner on the evening of October 28.
