CHICAGO—Former Unilever public relations director Michelle Holland has joined Edelman as executive vice president in the U.S. consumer practice. Holland will work with account managers in the consumer practice to develop the firm’s integrated brand marketing capabilities and to enhance its youth marketing practice.
The appointment comes just weeks after Edelman’s Chicago consumer practice leader, Steve Singerman, jumped to rival Hill & Knowlton.
Holland will report to Pamela Talbot, president and chief operating officer, of Edelman U.S., and Mitch Markson, president of consumer brands and global creative director. She will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.
Holland joins Edelman from her previous position as public relations director at Unilever for the company’s home and personal care brands in North America. In that role, Holland established internal brand and trade public relations practice, helped triple the active use of the public relations channel in integrated marketing and directed public relations campaigns for Unilever brands, including Axe Deodorant Body Spray, Dove Hair Care and Face Care, Finesse’s Sheryl Crow Sponsorship and Thermasilk’s Michelle Branch tour.
Before joining Unilever, Holland worked as an consultant to Citibank, American Airlines and Weber Shandwick. Her previous agency experience includes positions at Burson-Marsteller, Hill & Knowlton, and Chicago-based Jasculca-Terman & Associates.
Edelman also promoted Kevin Cook, a nine-year veteran of the agency, to general manager of its reputation management practice.
