United Technologies Calls $1m Global PR Review

United Technologies Corporation (UTC), the giant US conglomerate that owns a string of high-tech businesses, has commenced a search for a PR agency to handle its corporate PR, valued at as much as $1 million.

HARTFORD: United Technologies Corporation (UTC), the giant US conglomerate that owns a string of high-tech businesses, has commenced a search for a PR agency to handle its corporate PR, valued at as much as $1 million.

It is understood that a number of global agency networks are lining up for the pitch at UTC’s global HQ in Hartford, Connecticut.

According to sources involved in the review, UTC is searching for agency support at a corporate level, across North America, Europe and China. It is understood that the inital engagement will be to support global communications stragegy for 18 months, with fees specified as being between $750K to $1 million.

Among UTC’s better known business units are Otis elevators and Carrier airconditioning systems. The company is also a major military contractor through its Hamilton Sundstrand, Pratt & Whitney, and Sikorsky Aircraft businesses.

In 2008, UTC was identified as the 38th largest corporate producer of air pollution by the University of Massachusetts ‘Toxic 100' index.
