WASHINGTON, D.C.— The United Way of America has named Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as its agency of record. Ogilvy will handle all public relations for the national headquarters of one of the nation’s largest charities.

Prior to being named agency of record, Ogilvy had assisted the United Way of America on two separate initiatives: Success By 6, a national public-private partnership that enables communities to provide their children with the best opportunity to succeed by the time they begin school, and 2-1-1, an easy-to-remember telephone number that connects callers with important community services and volunteer opportunities.

“Through its work for the United Way on a variety of projects, Ogilvy PR has demonstrated that it understands how the United Way is evolving to meet the tremendous rate of economic, social and political change occurring in the communities we serve,” said Cynthia Round, executive vice president, strategy and marketing. “Ogilvy PR can help us reposition United Way from fundraiser to community change agent. It’s a pleasure to have them on our team.”

The United Way movement includes approximately 1,400 community based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated, and governed by local volunteers.
