NEW YORK—GCI Group has named Robert Valdmanis as president of GCI Canada. Valdmanis will replace Nancy Croitoru who is leaving to become the chief executive officer of the Food and Consumer Products Manufacturers of Canada. He will be based at the agency’s Canadian headquarters in Toronto.
Valdmanis, a native Montrealer, has provided counsel to senior management of international organizations, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies, including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Merck, Mariott and 3Com. He also brings experience working with major Canadian and U.S.-based industry associations, including the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association of Canada and the Canadian Electrical Association and provided crisis communications support to the Life Insurance Council of NY in the aftermath of September 11.
Most recently, Valdamins was a principal at the Dilenschneider Group, where he specialized in investor relations, corporate communications and litigation PR. Earlier in his career he was a partner at GGA Communications in Montreal.
