LONDON—Waggener Edstrom has made several key hires in the U.K., effectively doubling its presence in the region. The U.K. growth phase began in December 2002 with the hiring of Sue Rizzello, who left her executive post at Nortel Networks to become managing director of Waggener Edstrom UK.

“Sue’s presence has really helped us drive forward on our vision for Waggener Edstrom in the United Kingdom,” said Claire Lematta, executive vice president of Waggener Edstrom Europe. “Hiring strong local leaders with real international capabilities is a key element of our growth strategy. Sue also brings a deep knowledge of Europe, Middle East and Africa communications and marketing to the team.”

At Nortel Networks Rizzello managed PR, government relations, marketing communications, events, and internal and sales communications for EMEA. Previously, she was responsible for building the technology PR practice at Edelman.

Other new hires include Jimmy Tse, formerly of Edelman and Porter Novelli, as account manager; and Nicola Wood, Rob Carter and Tony Watson as account executives.
