STAMFORD, CT—MasterCard International has awarded two additional pieces of business to high-tech specialist Waggener Edstrom. Wagg Ed, which for the past two years has been managing MasterCard North America business, including debit, member relations, remote payment, presentment service business, and acceptance, has added MasterCard International’s global development and corporate payment solutions business units.

The firm, best known for its technology work, picked up the additional MasterCard business after a pitch that included several of the financial service company’s incumbent agencies as well as some smaller boutique firms. Billings were not disclosed, by Keith Lindenburg, senior vice president and Eastern region general manager for Waggener Edstrom, said the win would double the size of the firm’s overall business with MasterCard.

The new assignment includes work for MasterCard’s PayPass card, its Internet security business, programs concerning the identity theft issue, and various corporate solutions products, but Lindenburg says the agency is most excited about the fact that “it’s our first piece of international business for MasterCard.” The account will be led out of the firm’s Stamford, Conn., office, but will draw on resources in the U.K., as well as the recently acquired Maloney & Fox, which specializes in consumer PR.

The account was previously handled by Brodeur Worldwide.
