MWASHINGTON, D.C.—Waggener Edstrom Worldwide has hired Derek LaVallee as vice president in its growing global public affairs practice, based in the agency’s Washington, D.C., office. In his new role, LaVallee is responsible for providing senior level counsel to a range of existing agency clients and also expanding the agency’s local roster of client accounts.

LaVallee will also work closely with the practice’s branches in Seattle and Brussels to develop and manage comprehensive public affairs programs for clients.

“Our clients do business in a global community and are looking for an agency partner who can seamlessly address their government communications needs from Brussels to Beijing,” says Matt Reid, executive vice president of global corporate communications and public affairs at WE.

Before joining WE, LaVallee was a senior executive at Susan Davis International in Washington, D.C., and has served in the White House and Department of Defense during the Clinton administration. He is also the co-founder of Diplomatic Solutions and was the media and outreach consultant to former U.S. Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger in Eagleburger’s role as chairman of the International Conference on Holocaust-Era Insurance Claims.
