SAN FRANCISCO, August 23—Universal Electronics, a wireless interface technology company, has selected high-tech PR specialist Waggener Edstrom as its agency of record. Universal is Waggener Edstrom’s second client in the Bay Area—joining Roamable Corporation—and comes on board as the Portland-based agency makes a major push into northern California.

The agency’s expansion is being led by two senior executives with strong ties to the California technology community. Senior vice president LeeAnne French and vice president Kim Bouic are both veterans of the agency’s operations in the Pacific Northwest.

“Despite the current economic climate, there are significant public relations opportunities in California,” says Bouic. “We are thrilled to sign two key clients within the first few months of our expansion effort and have seen other positive signs that companies are looking to buy what we have to
sell: 100 percent focus on using strategic communications to help solve our clients’ business problems and positively impact their bottom line.”

Universal Electronics president and COO Rob Lilleness says his firm chose Waggener Edstrom because of “its excellent reputation, unparalleled relationships with industry influentials and top-notch professionalism.
