AUSTIN—Paul Walker, former head of digital for GCI Group and later Cohn & Wolfe, is joined PulsePoint—the firm created by his former colleagues Bob Feldman and Jeff Hunt—as partner. Walker has provided digital media counsel to companies including Dell, Johnson & Johnson, Nike, ExxonMobil, Novartis and MasterCard.
Walker was appointed to lead GCI’s digital media practice in 2006 and was responsible for helping clients address the challenges and opportunities associated with new media channels. He later held the same position following the firm’s merger with WPP sister agency Cohn & Wolfe.
Prior to joining GCI, Walker was the CEO of an Austin-based company that helped companies and individuals sell excess inventories using online channels, such as eBay. Craigslist and Google. Earlier, he was vice president of a Silicon Valley seed fund created by Accenture and Mobius Venture Capital, where he both invested in companies and worked with them on strategy, sales and marketing. He also spent 10 years at Accenture in brand management, market development and business development roles and was and special assistant to the president of the University of Texas.
Before that, he worked with Hunt and Fledman at Y&R and Burson-Marsteller, where he started the high-tech practice and went on to become the managing director of the Singapore office.
