Walker Named Interim CMO at Allstate

Joan Walker, senior vice president of corporate relations at insurance giant Allstate for the past two years,, will take on additional responsibility as interim chief marketing officer,. She takes over from Joe Tripodi, who is joining The Coca-Cola Company.

NORTHBROOK, IL—Joan Walker, senior vice president of corporate relations at insurance giant Allstate for the past two years,, will take on additional responsibility as interim chief marketing officer,. She takes over from Joe Tripodi, who is leaving the company to become chief marketing and commercial officer at The Coca-Cola Company.

Prior to joining Allstate in 2005, Walker was the chief marketing and communications officer for Qwest Communications International where she led a team of 300 professionals and developed a renewed customer focus for the company. Previously, she was senior vice president, global public affairs, for Pharmacia; senior vice president of corporate communications at Ameritech; and a partner in the Bozell Sawyer Miller group.

As interim chief marketing officer Walker is responsible for all marketing activities across the company including brand strategy and identity, advertising, customer experience, promotions, sponsorships, direct marketing, Internet marketing, consumer insight and measurement, regional marketing management and all acquisition, cross-sell and retention activities, in addition to her current responsibility for internal and external communications.

”Joan is exceptionally well-suited to take on this additional responsibility,” says Thomas Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Allstate. “With her depth of experience, I am confident she will successfully lead the marketing strategy that we have been implementing over the past five years.”
