BRUSSELS—Hill & Knowlton has strengthened its public affairs team in Europe with the appointment of Sir Stephen Wall as chairman of public affairs for the EMEA region.
Wall has spent 30 years in U.K. government, including a four year spell as principal adviser to current British Prime Minister Tony Blair on European Union issues and five years as the U.K.’s Permanent Representative to the EU in Brussels. He was also the Foreign Office spokesman on Europe during the referendum on the U.K.’s membership of the EU in 1975.
Wall will report to Elaine Cruikshanks, head of Hill & Knowlton’s global public affairs practice and to Andrew Laurence, chairman and CEO of Hill & Knowlton EMEA. He will work closely with Philippe Blanchard, director of Hill & Knowlton’s public affairs practice in Europe, and Tim Fallon, managing director of the firm’s London public affairs practice.
Says Cruikshanks, “With the current climate of uncertainty on the future of the EU, trusted advisors with the first hand experience to guide clients through the maze are hard to come by. I am therefore particularly pleased that Sir Stephen has decided to join us.”
