NEW DELHI—Walmart has shifted Indian PR duties to Perfect Relations following a competitive review.

The decision sees the retail giant part ways with Weber Shandwick firm Creation.

Perfect Relations is charged with helping to bolster Walmart's reputation across national and regional media. The assignment also involves crisis management, social media and stakeholder engagement.

Walmart's Indian presence is currently focused on its wholeseale business, because of limits on FDI investment in retail. The company currently runs 20 wholesale stores and plans to open a further 50 over the next five years. Walmart is also aiming to expand its B2B ecommerce platform.

Walmart India corporate affairs director Rajneesh Kumar confirmed the appointment to the Holmes Report, noting that Perfect Relations "comes with tremendous industry experience."

"We are confident the team will add value for us, as we continue to strengthen our business in India in line with our commitment to the country and build a world-class operation in Cash & Carry business, bring global expertise and contribute to the success of small businesses, kiranas and other stakeholders," added Kumar.
