NEW YORK—John Waples, senior managing director at global corporate and financial communications specialist FD, has been named head of FD UK; Mark McCall, senior managing director, has been named head of FD Americas; and Beth Saunders, senior managing director, has been named chairman of FD Americas. They join Jim Kelly, head of FD Asia Pacific, as key regional leaders within the firm’s global network.

The promotions come on the heels of the recent appointments of Ed Reilly as global CEO and Geoffrey Pelham-Lane as global president of FD, which is owned by management consulting FTI Consulting.

Waples assumes responsibility for the strategic direction and operational functions of the London office, working closely with the other members of the firm’s senior leadership team to foster cross-border collaboration among practices and sectors. He joined the firm early in 2010 after a 25-year career in business journalism, most recently as business editor of The Sunday Times

McCall will provide direction and leadership while overseeing development and growth in the Americas. He joined the firm in 2004 and served as head of the special situations practice, which focuses on event and crisis-driven assignments, before taking on executive management responsibilities.

Saunders is charged with leading the firm’s go-to-market strategy in the region, working closely with other FTI offers, as well as overseeing new business development, marketing and thought leadership efforts. She will also continue to serve as leader of the Americas' capital markets communications practice, a role in which she has served since 2009.  Beth joined the firm in 2007 through the acquisition of Ashton Partners, an independent investor relations firm she co-founded.

In addition, Ross Thornton will move from Asia Pacific to the UK office with specific responsibility to help grow the firm’s global M&A communications offering.
