WASHINGTON, D.C., September 27—David Krawitz, previously president and managing director of Powell Tate/Weber Shandwick and an expert in public affairs and healthcare issues, has been named managing director and senior vice president of APCO Worldwide’s Los Angeles office.

Krawitz is a Los Angeles native who served previously as a managing director of Burson-Marsteller’s U.S. healthcare practice and worked for more than 16 years as a senior staffer in the U.S. Senate.

“David’s public affairs savvy and depth of experience in the health care industry are major additions to our California, national and global service offerings to our clients,” says Neal Cohen, APCO’s U.S. managing director. “He will serve as an important link for our western offices and their clients in Sacramento, Seattle and Phoenix, given both his Los Angeles roots and his connection to what goes on day to day in Washington, D.C.”

Krawitz held several positions in the U.S. Senate, most recently as chief of staff to former Michigan Sen. Don Riegle, who left Shandwick earlier this year and joined APCO as chairman of its government relations practice in Washington, D.C.
