SINGAPORE—Weber Shandwick has won PR duties for next year's Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore, following a competitive tender.

The Holmes Report understands that the agency secured the six-figure brief earlier this month from the organizing comittee behind the Games. Weber Shandwick is tasked with elevating the profile of the event in Singapore and across other Asian markets.

A biennial event involving 11 Southeast Asian nations, the 28th SEA Games will take place next June in Singapore.

Weber Shandwick's previous sports experience is likely to have proved pivotal in landing the assignment; the agency worked on the recent Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, and has also supported several other sporting events and bidding teams.

Representatives from Weber Shandwick declined to comment, while the Singapore Sports Council did not respond to request for comment.
