FEDERAL WAY, WA—Weyerhaeuser, one of the world’s largest forest products companies, has named David Larsen vice president of corporate communications.

In his new role, Larsen will report to Ernesta Ballard, senior vice president of corporate affairs and will be responsible for the management of Weyerhaeuser’s reputation advertising; external and internal communications; and for providing strategic counsel to the senior management team, other Weyerhaeuser businesses and staff leaders.

“Dave’s extensive experience in communications and public affairs will be critical to ensuring that Weyerhaeuser’s communications activities support our strategic business needs and protect our public license to operate,” says Ballard. “Weyerhaeuser is a dynamic and changing company and Dave will play an important role in helping establish a two-way dialogue with stakeholders critical to our success.”

Larsen joined Weyerhaeuser in 1989 as manager, corporate communications for Canada. In 1993, he was named director, government and public affairs before being appointed vice president, government and public affairs for Canada, in 1997.
