LOS ANGELES—James Williams, who was managing director of the Los Angeles office of Ruder Finn, has rejoined Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as executive vice president in the firm’s account planning group.

Williams says he was attracted back to Ogilvy by the opportunity to be part of the account planning group, headed by managing director of strategy and planning Steve Dahloff. “It’s a cutting edge position,” he says. “There are some agencies talking about account planning but Ogilvy has put together a team to really elevate the work done for clients and to bolster new business development.”

Williams was previously managing director of Ogilvy’s L.A. office and before that associate director for Ketchum in L.A.

Howard Solomon, executive vice president for regional operations at Ruder Finn, has been named to the additional role of acting managing director of Ruder’s Los Angeles office and will continue his role as managing director, Ruder Finn/Chicago.

As acting managing director, Solomon will help restructure and expand practice teams as well as strive to bolster the firm’s presence in Southern California’s rapidly recovering technology sector.
