LONDON: Indian software giant Wipro Technologies is seeking global PR support as it expands its business into new markets.

It is understood that the IT company has issued an RFP to several international agencies with a view to servicing the business on either a global or local market basis.

Wipro head of international field marketing and global branding Rahul Kadavakolu said that the review would not, however, affect the status of incumbent firm Gutenberg PR, with whom the company works with in India, the US and the UK.

"We are only looking at partners to support us in our newer geographies," said Kadavakolu, pointing to China and Japan as markets that Wipro is seeking to enter. The company already has a presence in 50 countries.

"We are evaluating multiple models," added Kadavakolu. "We will decide whether it is one agency or whether we localise."

Kadavakolu pointed out that the company is seeking to raise its profile in its newer markets. Wipro is one of Indian software's 'big three' alongside rivals Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services. The company employs more than 100,000 people and also counts significant consumer care, lighting and healthcare businesses.
