LONDON—Weber Shandwick has named Lee Tomkins executive vice president of the agency’s global healthcare practice, a new position.

The growth of its healthcare practice is a top priority for the global public relations giant, which ranks number one in consumer, financial, and technology public relations, but only number seven in the healthcare sector. Over the past two years, the firm’s healthcare practice has started work with international clients such as Pharmacia, Pfizer and Eli Lilly and PRWeek recently named Weber Shandwick as the UK’s fastest growing healthcare practice.

Based in London, Tomkins will partner with Karen Winterhalter, director of the firm’s European healthcare practice, to grow its U.K. and European capabilities of the firm. She will report to Weber Shandwick’s U.K. joint chief executive officer David Brain and president of the global healthcare
practice, Laura Schoen, who is based in New York.

Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Tomkins was responsible for the healthcare business of the London operation of Ruder Finn.
