WASHINGTON, DC—David Almacy, a senior vice president in Edelman’s digital public affairs practice and former White House internet director under President George W. Bush, and Ilyse Hogue, senior advisor to Media Matters for America and former director of political advocacy and communications for MoveOn.org, have joined the speaker lineup for The Holmes Report’s upcoming ThinkTank Live event in Washington, DC.

The event, which also features Burson-Marsteller chief executive Mark Penn and Hill & Knowlton CEO Jack Martin and senior corporate communicators Tom Buckmaster of Honeywell and Perry Yeatman of Kraft Foods, will take place at the Washington W Hotel on October 27 and will focus on The Intersection of Politics and Branding.

Tickets for the event can be bought via EventBrite, or from Celeste Picco at The Holmes Group ([email protected]).

Almacy, who brings more than 15 years of experience at the intersection of government, public relations, marketing, politics and digital communications, will focus on the transformative impact of digital and social media.

Prior to joining Edelman, he spent almost two years as vice president of Waggener Edstrom’s Studio D digital operation, and previously served in the Bush White House as internet and e-communications director, managing online communications strategy, serving as an official spokesman for Internet press and bloggers, and acting as a liaison to the federal government web manager community.

Hogue, who also serves as an independent consultant focused on campaign strategy and the integration of technology and social media tools, will focus on Shifting Political Realities and Bullet Proof Brands, discussing issues including building a constituency-based brand and dealing with brand attacks.

From 2006 to 2011, Hogue served as campaign director and then the director of political advocacy and communications for MoveOn, where she was responsible for shaping political strategy and developing communications initiatives to give MoveOn's five million members a voice in Washington.

Prior to joining MoveOn, she was program director at the Rainforest Action Network. She is also co-founder of smartMeme Strategy and Training project, which works to amplify the impact of grassroots organizing with new strategy and training resources, values based communications, collaborations, and meme campaigning.
