NEW YORK--News Corp’s communications shake-up continues with the departure of global PR head Teri Everett, less than a week after the company announced that senior strategist and corporate affairs chief Matthew Anderson is also leaving.

Everett is to depart in early February after more than a decade with the company’s US operations. Anderson counts a similarly lengthy relationship with News Corp and its deputy COO James Murdoch, but is stepping down from his London-based role as group director of strategy and corporate affairs at the end of March to return home to California.

The duo leave after a turbulent period at News Corp, which found its News International subsidiary embroiled in the UK phone-hacking scandal, and was forced to close its News of the World tabloid and part ways with several key executives last year.

Everett is effectively replaced by Julie Henderson, who is promoted to the position of corporate affairs SVP and chief communications officer.

“I am immensely grateful to Teri for leading our communications efforts so adeptly in recent years,” said News Corp chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch in a statement. “During her more than 10 years with News Corporation, Teri gained not only the trust and respect of all who worked with her – but my great appreciation as well. She has been one of our most effective and well-liked executives.”

Everett joined the Company in 2000 as corporate communications VP in Los Angeles, before expanding her duties to ultimately oversee the company’s global corporate affairs and communications efforts from December 2009.

“The past decade has, without a doubt, been the highlight of my career,” said Everett. “News Corp executives are a peerless group and I will miss them immensely.”

Henderson began her News Corp career in 2006, heading corporate comms for Fox Interactive Media. In 2007, she took on a senior comms role at News Corp, before being promoted to head comms and corporate strategy last year.

“Julie is simply one of the most talented communications executives in the media business and her elevation is a natural fit for the company,” said Murdoch. “She has expertly run our West Coast communications operations for several years, where she plays a key role in corporate strategy. Julie’s extensive background in digital, coupled with her formidable corporate communications capabilities, make her the right choice for this important role.”

Henderson, who will divide her time between Los Angeles and New York, will remain based in Los Angeles and report to president and COO Chase Carey.
