Joanne Colan Named Senior Content Strategist At Edelman

NEW YORK—Broadcast and digital media personality Joanne Colan has joined Edelman as senior vice president and senior content strategist. Colan will help further advance the firm’s various content initiatives and work with clients and teams to help improve their visual storytelling capabilities with an emphasis on short-form sharable video.

She will report to Nancy Ruscheinski, global vice chair and chief innovation officer, Edelman, and Russell Dubner, president, Edelman New York.

Colan’s experience with the web and digital culture will be used to train Edelman staff on how to embed visual storytelling into more of the agency’s day-to-day client work, create sharable short-form video and identify innovative content creators who can partner with the firm.

Colan served as lead writer and host of Rocketboom, one of the Web’s first prominent and highly popular news videoblogs, for three years. She was also co-host for Discovery’s “Dean of Invention,” a Planet Green series about tomorrow’s science and tech, and was actively involved in social engagement for the series.

Her international experience also spans MTV, Discovery Communications the BBC, Fine Living Network, Euronews and M6 Network.
