ATLANTA--UPS is reviewing agency support for its corporate social responsibility activities, already considered industry-leading among major corporations.

The world’s largest package delivery company is understood to have released an RFP that covers community relations, philanthropy and employee communications. The process is being led by UPS’ global HQ in Atlanta.

The review comes as UPS attempts to complete its acquisition of TNT Express, which is currently being reviewed by European Union regulatory authorities. The deal will give UPS a strong European presence to add to its powerful US position and rapidly growing Asian operations.

Last year, UPS named company veteran Scott Wicker as its first chief sustainability officer, overseeing the $50bn company’s sustainability strategy and practices. The company recently took one of the top spots on the Corporate Social Responsibility Index and also scores highly for its transparency on the Carbon Disclosure Project. Its sustainability report is rated B+ by the Global Reporting Initiative.

UPS also channels corporate citizenship efforts through its UPS Foundation, which invests nearly $100m annually in philanthropy programs.

UPS currently works with Ogilvy PR in Asia-Pacific, but employs agencies on a local market basis outside that region. A UPS spokesman declined to comment on the review.
